An amazing 59 people gathered for the first post-summer Dining Out event at El Chamizo restaurant, right on the seafront at Las Rocas beach off the Calpe road. We occupied the whole area to the side and back, very stylish with decking underfoot and sail shades overhead. Over last winter the whole restaurant had major alterations to comply with Valencian coastal pathway laws, and re-opened in February. Although service was occasionally a little slow and odd meals a little cool, the staff coped very well with the number of people, and the fact that following a power out, they were running on generator power. Many guests commented on how tasty the food was, were very understanding, and just got on with enjoying themselves. A slight hitch occurred with the second group, 50 people this time, but some of them changed their minds about their main course choice. This causes problems for the restaurant and the organisers, it is why we pre-order, so please people, play fair and just don´t do that!
