I am Stella Maarsman (b. 1959), a Dutch artist who moved to Benissa in 2011. I hope to introduce beginners and more advanced painters to the different techniques available to painters in the media of oil, pastel and watercolour.

I have been painting for over 25 years and have developed my own style, Inspired by many artists in the meta-realistic style e.g. Michael Parks, Dalí and some very good Dutch painters like Rene Zwaga, Johfra and Diana Vandenberg. I am also a certified yoga teacher and a singer. Both these things have a big influence on my work. My favourite techniques are oil painting, pastel, and watercolour. I use a glazing technique to build up colours when painting in oil.
